In Irish lore, The Sidhe (pronounced shee), or Aos Sí (shee), were descendants of the divine inhabitants of Ireland. What the hell is THIS? -- Diplocaulus is an extinct and unusual amphibian, with a distinctive boomerang shaped head. It really IS extinct, although a Japanese sculptor's image caused a big stir a few years ago. The Weirdest Critters on the Internet

One of our readers kindly shared a photo of what looked like a crescent (or boomerang) headed salamander. I was intrigued so I decided to do some research.

The Irish god, Nechtan, possessed the secret "Well of Wisdom," the holy well of knowledge. Only he was allowed to draw water from it. Nine hazel trees (associated w/ wisdom) grew around the well. Five salmon lived in the well & ate the fallen nuts.
