Lace aka Bizzilla  Lace making is a very old tradition in the Maltese islands; Gozitans are particularly famous for it. Unfortunately it is a dying crafts, as it involves long hours of intricate work, and the income most of the time does not justify it. In the background you can see a good example of a finished product.

Bizzilla or lace making is an old tradition amongst the Maltese islands, moreso on the island of Gozo. Hand made lace making with bobbins is derived from Genoese lace and was mastered in both Malta and Gozo by the mid Century.

Although this is not tatting, it is a beautiful lace worth remembering. Bobbin lace in process by "experienced hands". I imagine it is a dying art.
