One face of a cushion cover
One face of a cushion cover, probably made from a larger piece cut down. Worked in satin stitch with blue silk yarns on probably a linen and cotton ground. Scrolling floral design includes birds, double-headed eagle, insects, and double-tailed mermaid whose fish tails merge with carnations; scrollwork border along one edge.
Chemise, forming one part of bridal costume. Polychrome silk yarns on undetermined ground, very full sleeves gathered at shoulders, metallic yarns at top of sleeve along shoulder line. Embroidery on sleeves consists of several narrow vertical rows of leaves and stylized forms, and four repeats of the "Dixos" pattern along inner side; embroider along hem shows ships, animals and human figures. Yellow stain near hem on front of chemise.
