NYT Cooking: These spice-loaded meatballs have a Turkish inflection. The warm yogurt sauce adds tang and richness, along with a sprinkling of tart sumac powder and chopped mint. American "Greek-style" yogurt is not always tart enough, but it can be thinned with a bit of buttermilk or even lemon juice. Whisking it with cornstarch and egg produces a silky sauce. Though the ingredient list looks long, this is ...

Chicken Parm Meatballs - Dinner: A Love Story

Unless I’m out to dinner, or unless there’s a birthday to celebrate, there’s not much room in my life right now for high-concept food. I love the idea of mashed potato ghosts for Halloween, and the artisanal Mallomars that came with the check at last weekend’s anniversary dinner was definitely good for a giggle. Even if it hadn’t been recorded in my... Read more »

Lamb Meatballs in a Spicy Curry

I used to be a bit overwhelmed by the amount of spices needed to cook a curry, and with a 3 1/2-year-old and a 1-year-old, I’m really time poor. I want easy, everyday dishes, but I certainly don’t want to compromise on taste. This is a great weekday family curry recipe for those with busy lives.

It took me a while to appreciate the rich, almost grassy flavor of lamb, but cooking with ground lamb is a treat. Don’t be intimidated! It pretty much behaves just like beef. These meatballs have a flavor both deep and bright, but also with plenty of zip from fresh lemon zest and crumbled feta. Our trusty Dutch oven lets us cook both the meatballs and the orzo at once, and the resulting dish is creamy, meaty, and richly satisfying.
