I got the go-ahead from First Second to share some things! Here is a process gif of a panel from Kiss Number Once again— my favorite things to draw scenes where NOTHING AT ALL IS HAPPENING.

#D306 - Day 2 of NaNoWriMo has been a real struggle, one mainly filled with self doubt - so I decided to make a reward chart. Every time I write 100 words, I get a little chocolate reward. For each day I meet my word count goal, I get to colour in one of the spots AND I get to pour myself a little drink :p #project365 #2015 #nanowrimo #writing #reward #m&ms #atf

I’ve finished If This Be Sin, the junior thesis comic I’ve been hard at work on all year! It’s about Gladys Bentley, a Harlem Renaissance blues singer and drag king. The original watercolored pages will be on display as part of the thesis show at the Visual Arts Gallery, 601 W 26th Street, 15th Floor, from April 6 - 20. There’s also reception on Wednesday, April 10, 6-8pm, and I’d love to see you there. As for publishing the comic, I’m considering both print and digital options, and I hope…

While I was waiting for supper to finish cooking I lined all my published books up by chronological order (Superhero Girl is missing, I don’t have a copy of it at the moment). I can’t decided if it’s impressive or so little to show for 7 years of work (Zombies Caling was published in 2007)! If I stacked my non-hard copy webcomics (Demonology 101 and Ice) next to these books that would be another 1,000+ pages. Drawing comics is a pretty great job. :D Now I gotta go work late into the night…

It makes me really happy to see other artists who sketch very loosely. Growing up, a lot of “good” artists I admired were able to sketch really tight-looking art from the get-go, and trying to emulate.
