When it comes to music production, whether you're trying to create dusty old skool hip hop or lo-fi rock like Tycho, you need to know how to get that lo-fi sound. Lo-fi music production 2 important steps. First, you've got to have a lo-fi sample. But you've ALSO got to do something to emulate the fact that the samplers used to make those wonderful old school hip hop songs sucked. So you also need to emulate a lo-fi sampler processing the lo-fi samples, and introduce artifacts into the process.
