Marie Barchi models an effective process of formative assessment with her Algebra I students. During the lesson, Ms. Barchi assesses student readiness as they work problems so she can identify the type of exit card appropriate for each student based on where they are at in learning how to solve inequalities. She then quickly sorts the cards to identify which students are struggling and need additional support as well as which students provided average and above average work.
