St. Maura was born at Troyes in Champagne and through prayers, her family converted to Christianity. The greatest part of the revenues of their large estate was then converted into the patrimony of the poor. She dedicated her life to fully living the faith. . Her relics and name are honoured in several churches in that part of France, and she is mentioned in the Gallican Martyrology. Saint Prudentius of Troves who was acquainted with her, wrote an autobiography of her life.
