There is a difference in Greek and Russian Icons. When you see Mary in a Greek icon, She is the Theotokos. In Russian Icons She is called the Bogoroditse. Both of these words actually mean, God Bearer. Westerners have change this to Mother of God.
Our workshop has been working on Byzantine icon painting since Our handmade icons are made using the traditional Byzantine technique with a background of 23 carat gold sheets and egg based tempera paints.
St. Kyriaki (born in Nicomedia in 268 - died in Chalcedon on Jul. 7, 289) - Greek martyr who was executed during the Persecutions of Diocletian. Her defiance of pagan authorities and Roman officials made her popular with many converts. Her survival of many tortures and the miracles that accompanied them made her a leading Christian figure. She was beheaded for her faith.
