Alki Zei is a Greek novelist and children's author.She studied Philosophy, in the Drama School of the Athens and in the Moscow Cinema Institute. From 1954 to 1964 she lived in the Soviet Union as a political refugee.In 1964 she returned to Greece, but they all left again in 1967 staying in Paris and returning only after the dictatorship fell.She wrote a series of books for children, and in 1987 her first novel for adults, Achilles Fiancee Her books are translated into numerous languages

In 1936 she began her career as a journalist. She fought against the dictatorship of Metaxas and later , she joined the Communist Party and worked for an underground anti-fascist newspaper.She published The Dead Await, Bloody Earth and many others.She was among the founders of the Association for the Turkish-Greek Friendship
